Topic:

The Microsoft Business Intelligence Road Map

Our February 26th meeting will be a panel style meeting, we have invited 3 experts to the panel, Vipul Shah (Microsoft), Tony Sebion (Omni resources) and Dale Mumper (Skyline Technologies).  The discussing will center around the THREE Microsoft business intelligence CIRCLES; traditional on premise BI, cloud based BI and big data, we would like to try to answer the following questions:

1.       Where is Microsoft heading with BI? What is the vision, what is the future.

2.       Is Cloud-based BI (Azure and Power BI) the future of Microsoft BI strategy

3.       What do we do with traditional Microsoft BI (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, On-Prim SharePoint.. Etc)

4.       Emerging best practices for BIG data appropriate use cases

5.       Does Big Data make everything that came before it obsolete when it comes to data management and analytics? If not, how does Microsoft’s legacy ecosystem of BI products (SQL Server on premise, SSIS, SSAS, SharePoint on premise, Excel) survive and thrive? Are there use cases that continue to support each of them?
